Digital correspondence #292

Sometimes (rarely anymore) on Fridays I do a random post that highlights my recent finds or the week's latest and greatest. Well today is Wednesday so this isn't going to make any sense.
Oh, btw, before I get started. If you scroll down and to the right you will see what is temporarily and hastily called "The Sharing Zone". Seeing as how my previous sidebar addition of MIKEROBLOG set the bar so high I don't think I really lived up to the standard. However, The Sharing Zone is everything I decide to share that passes over my desk (my Google Reader). I am actually pretty picky and think twice before passing anything along. So you've got that to keep your eye on. Go here to see the page that it produces.
Ok, over in Berlin, Germany you can get an apartment for quite cheap. There are, from what I'm told, a crapload of empty apartments just waiting to be occupied. The problem and reason for the empty apartments in Berlin? Well, there's not enough jobs. But if you're good enough you can make a living (or at least act like you make a living) by being a DJ.
Here's what their apartments look like. (Thanks Simon)
There is a band called Deerhunter and another called Atlas Sound. Chances are you have already heard of them both. They share some members. I can tell you that I am enjoying the recent Atlas Sound album and that I have never listened to Deerhunter. But if you swing over to their collective blog you are going to get a pretty regular dose of interesting music. We're talking mixtapes, VIRTUAL 7"s (I love that idea and will rip it off soon I think) and plenty of outtakes and songs recorded merely hours ago with no place to go except online. Go hang out over there.
I don't want to talk only about music but it just sort of happens. But to break up the pop-boy stuff I would like to tell you that tonight I'm going to see the Atlanta Thrashers take on the Pittsburgh Penguins. I honestly don't care who wins. I love hockey in person. It's probably the best live sport to see besides baseball which is, or course, a completely different vibe and experience.
Super Bowl Sunday coming up, right? Gotta go for the Giants. I didn't like the Patriots when the Bears beat them in '85 and I surely don't like them now.
Yesterday I signed into my AIM account for the first time in probably 5 years. My buddy list looked like a graveyard; the list of grayed-out and unavailable buddies was staggering. Where did you go? I went away and I don't blame you for doing the same.
My schedule looks like this:
+ HOLD HORSES IS COMING OUT SOON I PROMISE (hopefully by the end of Feb). All of the files are out of my hands and are being processed by and prepared for consumption.
+ I went back into my project files and separated the files of 2 songs from my upcoming album. So, anyone interested in remixing please get in touch. I will eventually post them somewhere where anyone can get to them but if you are looking to get a head start or just need something to do then I'd like to hear from you. And the best part is, since you've never heard my version of the song, your remix will be even that much better and further from what I've already done.
+ And in the next week or 2 I will put up some songs from the album for streaming on Virb and Myspace. There's the marketing department's strategy. We are doing what we can.
